Professors talk about U.S. Civil War

The Rice Humanities Research Center and Department of History invite faculty, staff and students to their workshop and lecture series on the U.S. Civil War. Anne Rubin, associate professor of history at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will host a workshop titled "Brave Bummers of the West: Veterans' Memories of Sherman's March" at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Humanities Building, Room 327.
Another lecture by Rubin will highlight "Identities Gained and Lost: Confederate Nationalism During the Civil War and Reconstruction." The lecture will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Humanities Building, Room 117.
Lisa Brady, assistant professor of history at Boise State University, will host the workshop "Making a Desert and Calling It Peace: Ideas of Wilderness in the Aftermath of the American Civil War" at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Humanities Building, Room 327.
