The new president and CEO of the Houston Area Urban League, Judson Robinson III, will be the keynote speaker. He will offer a message of remembrance for King and call others to action.

"Judson Robinson is the perfect person to honor Martin Luther King," said Alicia Burns-Wright, Rice senior and BSA president. "The positive work he's done for the community imitates Dr. King's values, and people like Judson carry on his dream of a movement toward a world in which things are fair for everyone."

During his tenure as deputy commissioner to County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia, Robinson has overseen two nonprofit organizations, including their budgets, boards of directors and activities. In 1997, Robinson created a sole proprietorship, JWR3, designed to help promote business opportunities for qualified firms looking for exposure and opportunity.

The vigil will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the RMC's Ray's Courtyard and move to the chapel at 5:45. A reception in the RMC's Farnsworth Pavilion will follow at about 6:15.
