Rice Professor of Visual Arts Karin Broker, left, helps artist Pam Longobardi, center, professor of art at Georgia State University, give a printmaking demonstration. Longobardi and Basilios Poulos, visual and dramatic arts professor emeritus, are using Rice University's unique printing press to produce and print large-scale monoprints.
The artists took over VADA's Print Palace in Sewall Hall's Room 201 this month to give demonstrations and talk about their work to students and the community.
A third artist, Patricia Bellan-Gillen, printmaking professor at Carnegie Mellon University, will come to Rice Nov. 11-13, offering open studios from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bellan-Gillen's works have been described as mixtures of T.S. Eliot poetry and slang.
The community is welcome to attend the studios, designed to be an instructional component for students in the VADA monotype course.
