Americans will honor and remember the men and women who have served in the nation's military on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. On campus, Rice University will honor the more than 100 veterans among its faculty, staff and students at an 11 a.m. ceremony at Rice Memorial Center's Ray Courtyard.
Sponsored by Human Resources, the ceremony will feature remarks by Rice President David Leebron and Daniel Ledeen, Sid Richardson College senior and a member of the Rice Navy ROTC. Music will be provided by the MOB.
Aaron Blake, a graduate student in the Shepherd School of Music, will sing the national anthem. The ceremony will also include a flag-raising by the Navy ROTC and special recognition of Rice employees and students for military service. A reception will follow the 20-minute ceremony.
Employees and students who are veterans are invited to wear their uniforms. All members of the Rice community are welcome to attend, including those on campus for homecoming festivities.
If it rains, the ceremony will be moved to the chapel.
