Rice University's Community Involvement Center and others are sponsoring "Lights, Camera, Action: Your Life at Rice," a film contest that challenges students to detail their experiences on campus in five minutes or less.
The best film will earn the winning individual or team $500, with prizes of $250 and $100 for second and third. Prizes of $150 will be awarded to the winners of a number of categories that include super short (30 seconds or less), alternative spring break or civic engagement, academic or research focus, and audience favorite, among others.
Videos must be submitted to the Digital Media Center before 5 p.m. April 6.
Contest organizers plan to hold a public screening of the entries at a date and venue to be determined.
The rules and resources are available online at http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~service/videocontest.html.
Co-sponsors include the Center for Civic Engagement, the Digital Media Center, Fondren Library, Woodson Research Center, Information Technology and the Office of the Dean of Undergraduates.
