'Water: Effects on Life' art exhibition on view through Oct. 29

The "Water: Effects on Life" art exhibition is on view in the Ley Student Center's Farnsworth Pavilion through Oct. 29. The exhibition was part of the Shell Center for Sustainability's Water in the Houston Metabolism conference held Oct. 13.

Sixteen local artists participated in the exhibition, displaying their interpretation of the impact water has on the human condition in their community.

At the opening reception for the exhibition, People's Choice Awards were presented to artists Milam Schverak ’61 for "Thicket Winter," Jackie Liddell for "Water Is My Life" and Mary Fuller for "Living Water."

Other artists who participated were Rebecca Benitez, Becky Brocato, Hebe Brooks, Hana Case, Howie Doyle, Natascha Gotesky, Kelly Halbach, Sarah Hazel, Sarah Kitagawa, Victoria Lewelling, Nicola Parente, Belinda Smith and Luigino Alessandro Taboada.
