Across the country on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Americans will honor and remember the men and women who have served in the military. On campus, Rice University will honor the more than 100 veterans among its faculty, staff and students at an 11 a.m. ceremony at Rice Memorial Center's Ray Courtyard.

Sponsored by Human Resources, the ceremony will feature remarks by Col. Daniel Ragsdale, visiting American Council on Education fellow.
Each year a Rice faculty or staff member is recognized based on his or her outstanding contributions to Rice and military service. George Bennett, the Dell Butcher Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, has been selected as this year's honoree.
The ceremony will also include a flag raising by the Navy ROTC and special recognition of Rice employees and students for military service. A reception will follow the 20-minute ceremony.
Employees and students who are veterans are invited to wear their uniforms. All members of the Rice community are welcome to attend, including those on campus for homecoming festivities.
If it's raining, the ceremony will be moved to Rice Chapel.
