Southern Methodist University's women's team took the C-USA Championship for the second year in a row, and the University of Texas-El Paso placed second.

Wiess College freshman Heather Olson led Rice with an eighth-place finish (18:26.8) to earn Conference USA second-team honors. Also earning second-team honors with a 12th-place finish was Jones College sophomore Halsey Fowler (18:40.6).

“I thought that we competed very well today on a muddy course,” said Rice head coach Jim Bevan. “We have a young squad and to place third is quite an achievement. We will only get better.”

The Owls won the league championship in 2005 and 2007 and were runners-up in 2006 and 2008.
