EMS wins national awards
...........................................................................
The Rice University
Emergency Medical Service (REMS) attended the National Collegiate
EMS Foundation (NCEMSF) conference in New York in February,
where it received two awards.
REMS was recognized at the conference as a service that
is striving for excellence in campus EMS. This
award is similar to an accreditation process, explained
REMS Director Noah Reiter, and is designed to establish
benchmarks for collegiate EMS agencies to strive for and
achieve. The Striving for Excellence Award lasts for a period
of three years, and this was the second time REMS received
the honor.
Reiter noted that REMS could not achieve its success without
the tireless dedication and professionalism of our
volunteer staff, most of whom are full-time students. Each
of them is deserving of recognition.
The campus EMS organization also was recognized at the conference
with the Web Site of the Year award. Reiter
said that many people have worked hard to make the site,
<www.rice.edu/rems>,
accurate, useful and as interactive as possible.
He cited the work of Clay Jucket 00, Tim Miller 96,
Baker College senior Stephen Anthony, Sean Joyce 00
and John Cloudman 99.
